Was in search of good katsu in Manhattan and stumbled upon this Japanese Korean fusion spot that looked perfect for good food and a serene atmosphere. I went on a Tuesday and there weren't a ton of reservations open the weekend prior so would perhaps recommend booking a week or so in advance for prime days/times. Ended up going for an early 5 pm slot with one other. We split all the items-- tenderloin katsu, eggplant dish, mezemen noodles, as well as the corn ice cream. Genuinely, everything was delicious. Katsu was very flavorful and tender-- the pork had no smell and also wasn't too oily. It came with a great truffle salt that paired better than the katsu sauce. The eggplant dish was sort of like a shakshuka vibe as it was accompanied with little toast crackers. Mezemen noodles were a must, as I had seen a photo of them on Yelp and knew I wanted to try it. Noodles were nice and chewy and the sauce wasn't too spicy and perfectly creamy from the almond butter! My friend basically wanted to come here for the corn ice cream and honestly it was so worth it. The outer shell is made from white chocolate which i'm not usually a huge fan of but it paired perfectly with the corn flavor! We didn't get any beverages and our total came out to $60. Great price and I will absolutely be back here very soon!

I'm unwell. I'm feeling separation anxiety with Konban. Amazing food, service, and environment. We ordered the Corn Ribs, Tenderloin Katsu, Mazemen Noodle, and Corn Ice Cream. Everything was amazing. My favorite was the corn ribs. The seasoning was *chef's kiss* The tenderloin was so tender and I loved the combination of truffle salt with the katsu. The Mazemen was spicier than I anticipated, which I personally enjoyed. The noodle texture was perfect. Now, don't get me started on the dessert. The corn ice cream was everything. I loved the pieces of frozen corn. To add, our waitress was the sweetest, cutest person I've ever met. She kinda reminded me of Nana Komatsu (lol). We may or may not have gotten free sake too. The yuzu and ume sake were both so yummy. I liked the yuzu one more since it was less sweet. Everything was also reasonably priced. I will be back!!

For American standards, the katsu here is rly good. Also this place surprisingly didn't break my wallet, and the mackerel sushi was one of the better ones I have had outside of Japan. Chicken kaarage was a bit small but it was flavorful. Honestly like a 4-4.5 but it didn't break my wallet and the mackerel tasted nice so 5 stars

finally tried this place that people have been talking about! i loved how the servers were v friendly and greeted you in japanese when u entered and exited. my favorite dishes were the tenderloin katsu and corn ribs! rly liked the unique "doritos" flavoring of the corn ribs. the katsu was tender and chewy. mazemen was pretty good just a bit heavy. wasn't a fan of the cucumber dish lol. also i loved the minimalist aesthetic of the restaurant! not sure if the price of the food is worth it and maybe i'll come back again but not like too set on coming back lol.

Yum. Konban was a bit hard to find since there's only a tiny sign in front and the restaurant was in the basement level. The decor was so cute and trendy. We got the corn ribs, pork tenderloin, spinach noodles, and corn ice cream. My favorite was the corn ribs and the pork tenderloin. The corn ice cream was cute, but not very flavorful. Overall, a really good experience. Perfect for date night

Solid place for good katsu. Made a lunch reservation here for a weekend and were seated right away upon arriving. Service was friendly through the meal with our waiter always in the area when we needed. Food was good, the highlight being the corn personally. I also was surprised with how good the cocktail (Sakura) was. The pork cutlets (katsu) was in line with other good ones I've had. Cute vibes here with a clean and modern aesthetic. If you like katsu, I recommend giving this place a shot.

Been here twice already and it just gets better! Katsu was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the menchi katsu was surprisingly delicious. I'm usually not a big fan of the minced meat texture but they do it so well. Another standout was the mazemen - omg the noodle texture was amazing. Sad that they don't offer rice nor soup for dinner. Would've made the meal so much better.
